Proactive

Along with restarting SparkPeople, I am re-reading the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. I have read this book 3 times in the last 5 years. Just to remind myself I still have learning and growing to do. The first habit is to be proactive. Part of this process is to realize you make decisions in your life. Things do not control you. You make decisions and there are consequences for the decision. You have the power to change, it is internal.

So, I acknowledge, I weigh what a weigh because I did not use my decision making process to chose wisely the food I was eating. I did not chose to take care of myself through exercise. For 18 months I ate that wonderful bacon and cheese biscuit for breakfast. I sat on my rear because it was easy. There is no health reason which prevents me from losing weight. Yes, I have health challenges which may mean I lose weight slower than others.

By starting back on SparkPeople I have made a decision to change. I know I will not be perfect everyday but at least I am being proactive. Everybody has a starting point. I do have the ability to make better choices. I know with wise choice I will be helping myself. I am worth the time it takes to track my food and exercise. When I am down I can read a success story here and know I am not alone in the struggle to lose weight. I am not the only one tired from work or frustrated because the scale did not move downward.

I forgive me for the unwise decisions regarding food and I ask my spark friends to remind me this is a process not an instant cure whenever I get discouraged.
