A day of recognition - WOOHOO

Today I had to attend a family function - well sort of a step family function. I have not seen some of the people that attended in a couple of years. No drama, just scheduling and the like. Anyway, today we had 35 people or so gather for this post-Christmas thing. Everyone was casually dressed-and I opted for jeans, a t-shirt, a casual sweater and boots. Nothing fancy.
I walked in the door and began making the rounds, kissing and hugging folks hello. I came to one of the first ladies and she took a double take. She said, " wow! Look at you, you look fantastic. Love your hair (I did go from blonde to brunette and did have my hair chemically straightened, so the difference is pretty significant)." I thought - cool...I love my hair too.
I continued to make my way around, and I thought to myself that some people seemed to not recognize me. LOL Everyone was really nice though - and I heard a lot of "you look great's".
I came to the last group and there was this husband of a step cousin in the cluster standing with one of my brother's and some others. He had a huge grin and said very animatedly, "holy crap girl. I just asked your brother who you were. Check you out! What happened to the blonde, and wow check out your body!" His son smacked him, and they all laughed. He apologized and said he didn't mean to be rude...he was sorry. He stammered and stuttered, and said...I just meant you look great! Of course my brother just picked on me and we all laughed and I said thank you.
Inside, as I walked away, I thought - that was fantastic. Really, he didn't mean anything bad by it. He was sincerely astounded that I was the same person. I feel like a million!
By the way, hubby thinks I look really good too! LOL
