Very cold and windy on PEI

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Like the fool I am, I was out at 5a.m. shoveling snow and all to get my car dug out to get to work. But now I'm not going cause I did something to my shoulder. While shoveling, the wind caught the shovel and it swung around me and that's when I felt this sharp pain in my right shoulder. Hope it's not too bad. For today I'm going to baby it here at home. Hubby works on bridge construction and he got called out in the middle of the night because tarps covering one end of the new bridge in Darnley was blowing around. So out he goes, when he gets home tells me it was total whiteout conditions driving to the bridge which is about 1/2 hour drive from home and out on the Strait. Very windy out there and worse this time of year. He has to head back out shortly, the whole crew is working today, they don't normally work on Saturdays but this week they do.
It's weigh in day and I'm down another 2 pounds this week, I'm so proud of myself because I didn't think I was doing so good this week. I hope to keep up the good work and lose another 2 pounds next week.

Have a warm and toasty weekend

Hope your shoulder is feeling better today, I shoveled for over a hour yesterday and today my legs are sore???? Mostly my thighs and lower back but my legs??? Go figure....trying to get healthy and exercise by shoveling and we're worse off then before. Took Dave for a big walk this afternoon, it was -18 without the wind chill and there was definitely some wind! He started limping when he saw what looked like our, he was faking a limp so he could go home.!! We got home and he stole my glove and we played tag for half hour in the snow! Guess he wasn't hurting too badly. Hubby is getting home later today, he was away all weekend and poor Dave is lonely for him. Hope you had a good weekend and you are looking after that shoulder...take it easy. emoticon

Great job on the weight loss! And you had your doubts... *chuckle*

I hope hubby doesn't get frostbite today, I imagine the winds are worse on the Island than on the mainland.

As for your shoulder, be REALLY careful with it! If the RICE method (rest, ice, compress and elevation) don't fix it by Monday, you really need to see someone about it. Don't wait, because your cardio might suffer from it, and you may have damaged the area more than you think. Besides, I'm sure there are teenagers around who need a little cash who'll do the shovelling for you, at this point.

Spark on!
