A walk round the North side of Petersfield Lake

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Yesterday was a beautiful day, perfect for photography, with a clear blue sky which reflected in the lake. This is my first video with my new camera so I hope you will forgive the imperfections. I am not used to walkng along while taking photos, I have not done it for a long time. There is a lot of camera shake. I hope you enjoy the bird song in the background. It is an ideal place to walk and we try to go there every day and feed the birds. At the beginning I am walking to the spot where I feed the robin and when I get there, he comes down. Adrian fed the ducks while I photographed. There is a quick flash of a lady with a beautiful English springer spaniel who walked into my view. I filmed a robin singing in a tree, he performed beautifully for me. If you listen hard you can hear the birds singing on the Heathland which is to the right of us. There were 3 crows sitting in a tree. Lots of seagulls and Adrian likes to feed them as well as the ducks and they make quite a noise and do an aerobatic display. Near the end you can just see the odd signet swimming towards us by the reed beds. A Jack Russell Terrier comes into view at the end. My battery ran out just before I was ready to finish which is probably for the best as I think its quite long enough. Hope you enjoy the film!

Thanks so much, Ellen for sharing this...Love to see (and hear!) your robins...so different from ours but equally beautiful! I saw a flock of them in Florida and let them know how much we're looking forward to their return to Pennsylvania! They'd best extend their stay till it warms up! emoticon Renee

Oh Ellen -- that was lovely! I sat and watched it just enthralled! Such a beautiful place -- how lucky you are to have someplace that charming so close that you can walk in it every day! I can't wait to see how it looks in spring, with all the new growth, or in high summer.

I am so longing to get back over to your side of the pond, & if I do can I please come walk this walk with you?

    Hi Ellen,

We love your video. You did a great job of walking and shooting the video at the same time.
There was minimal camera shake.
It's a wonderful place to walk and see the different birds and ducks.
We are jealous of your prowess with the camera. emoticon emoticon

emoticon Ellen, loved it! Thanks for that and I loved hearing your accent! Talk a little more in your next one! That is if you want to. For walking so fast you didn't shake that bad. I have to walk really slow whhen I film or you wouldn't be able to see it-LOL! The water is so clear! Beautiful lake area to walk-good for you walking everyday! And the fact we are watching a film of somewhere in England-so cool! emoticon

Don't wory, you'll get better at it with practice, but this was good for first attempt. Better than DH who managed to video 25 minutes of his feet walking along the path.
