So much has happened!!

I had my son Jan. 5, 2011! He is 2 weeks old, today!! He is the ABSOLUTE GREATEST thing that has EVER happened to me!!! I had NO IDEA what this love would feel like! You hear about it over & over, through life, from other parents, but you can't really know until it happens to you!! & I'm SO GLAD my hubby & I decided to have a child!

August 2009, I turned 39. After years & years of feeling like children "just weren't for me", I had what I like to call "a mid-life baby crisis"! LOL! DH & I decided to go off birth control & see what happened.

Here we are!! I won't bore you with all of the pregnancy details, but being of "Advanced Maternal Age", borderline hypertensive, a gestational diabetic, and having what seemed like an incompetent cervix....leading to a cerclage (sewing up my cervix), I say "seemed like incompetent", because when it came time for them to induce me, my cervix would NOT open the least little bit, even 2 weeks after stitches came out!! Leading to a C-section. Go figure?

Regardless of the journey, I am amazed & bewildered at what a fantastic 2 weeks it has been, with my new little baby!!

Unfortunately, while pregnant, I completely FELL OF SPARK!!! After my cerclage was placed at 21 weeks along, I was placed on bedrest & told no more exercise!! I completely lost my "spark"! I apologize for disappearing & missed you all very much!

I was actually surprised to find myself missing exercise! LOL! REALLY missing it! I felt like I had no control over my body, whatsoever, & couldn't wait to get my body back! I would see a jogger running along the road, & wish it was me, pushing my jogging stroller!! he he

Well, here we are!! After the C-section, I was told 4 weeks rest. It has been 2 weeks, today, & I am feeling really well!! I just weighed, & have lost over 24 pounds since having my baby!! Yay!! I am breastfeeding, & hear that will help alot! I am only 8 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight! Amazing! But, I still have a battle ahead, after that weight is gone! I would like to lose a total of 75 pounds, so that leaves, 50 left to go! I can do it!!! I am hoping to get on the treadmill next week. My incision is almost completely healed, & the abdominal soreness is almost all gone! Figure I will plop Baby G in his Baby Bjorn & treadmill away, until the snow goes away (in April!!!).

Well, I guess I have rambled on enough, for now. I am so sorry that I neglected all of my wonderful sparkfriends for so long! I am on maternity leave, now, until mid-March (whoopee!!!), so I am planning to get all caught up with my spark-life & friends, & get re-focused for my new fit life, & plans of becoming one SEXY MOMMA!!!

I posted some Baby G pics in my gallery. emoticon

Thank you, Everyone, for sticking by me, even when I was "away", & for all of your love & support! I really appreciate it! emoticon

AHA!!! I knew he had to be a c-section with that perfect round head! (dd was too, that's how I recognized the difference). Can't wait to meet him!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am so glad to see your blog update. He is gorgeous =). You did so awesome considering you had so long a period of total bed rest - you should be proud of yourself for such moderate weight gain. I too have been away from Spark but have returned with a vengeance - YES! Let's succeed together, M!!!! Again, congrats to you for finding one of the greatest joys in life....

Again, he is absolutely beautiful!! I walked with Ethan on the treadmill in his front pack all the time! He would sleep and I would walk -it was great! I wasn't allowed to start running again until 6 weeks after my c-section, so I did a LOT of walking! LOL!

We'll all be right here with you on your weightloss journey!

I'm here for you every step of the way! You'll be back at it soon, one step at a time. It's a process of getting back into the swing of things. 8 months after having DS i ran a marathon! slow, but i ran it. You will be great too! Walk o'hartford?

Congrats again, I'm sorry I mistakenly called him a she. Anyways, he is so handsome. Enjoy and don't rush things, as long as your both healthy the rest will come.

I suggest you google Baby Bjorn and carriers in general. I read on a baby message board community that any carrier where the baby's legs dangle shouldn't be used. They explained it way better than I could, but essentially, the legs of the baby need to be curled up with the body and these types of carriers are like "sitting on the arm of a couch with dangling legs, with only your crotch to hold you up. They also cause the legs to be further apart than they should be and doesn't allow the hip joints to lay properly." Not my words, and I am going from memory, but I hope you get the idea.

Good luck in your weight loss goals and congratulations again. A baby is a wonderful thing!
