The universe rewarded my walk today

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

I taught my classes, had a quick lunch, and headed to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to register my car. That took about half an hour. I then walked over to the gov't agency that awarded my after-school art program a grant - I had to turn in the paperwork with signatures saying that we accepted the grant. (Yeah, like anyone ever says Thanks but no thanks!)

Anyway, it was about a half mile there, and a half mile back to Motor Vehicles to get my car. It's kind of an industrial area, with warehouses and the secondary cruise ship dock, not far from the power plant. So it isn't a very pretty place to walk, but it got me out and in the sun to get plenty of vit. D.

As I was walking back, I found a lovely beige cotton hat lying by the side of the road, quite clean, as if it had just blown off the head of a tourist. There was no one else around, so I picked it up, dusted it off - I'll toss it in the laundry, but I have a nice new beach hat that is - best part - FREE!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my! Half our furniture was found outside apartment dumpsters waiting for pick up when we lived in Philly. It's all fine. And totally free. And a good half of my wardrobe came from an acquaintance who had bariatric surgery, and couldn't wear it anymore. I'm hoping to be able to pass it on too some day--just without the surgery. There's no price like free!

Some day you'll have to share how you came to live in VI. Not many Yidden there!

LOL at Ellen - I had a great denim jacket I found in the road, back in college! I'm big at re-using!

I still remember the time I found a grey and pink flannel shirt in a puddle -- muddy-- took it home, washed it and wore it for years!!

Serendipity!!
