31 Days - Re-Assess, Sabatoeurs, Motivation, Goals - January 15, 16, 17 and 18

Amazingly, I've missed 3 days of blogging. Not sure how that happened, I guess sometimes life just gets in the way.. But I'm in a good place, in spite of having done something to my knee, I feel pretty good today, so that is good.

Instead of going day for day, I'm just going to deal with today's goal: which is to give ourselves a visual reminder of our success by putting a star on the calendar for each day that we meet our goals as a way of creating a visual streak.. I like that. I like the streak thing, it does make me do things that I sometimes don't want to..

I had a really good eating day yesterday. I didn't exercise because first, the knee hurt, and then second, I just ended up doing a bunch of things I needed and wanted to get done, but I am happy that the failure to exercise, which often leads me to eating improperly, did not do so yesterday, in fact I had a good day in that respect.. So I am hoping that I can continue that today and build a little streak for myself, and am happy that I was able to exercise today.

One day that I missed that I think could be important is the day that basically tells us to re-assess where we are in our mission to transform our eating habits and activity levels. Are our goals reachable? Are they still valid, or have we discovered things about ourselves that might create a need for tweaking them?

Personally, I think my goals are okay, but I do wonder why I don't seem to be having any success on the scale..which basically hasn't changed. I lost 2 lbs a couple of weeks ago, and over this last week I gained them. I'm not saying I've been perfect in the eating category, but certainly my activity level has been upped and I'm not eating any more than I have over the several weeks before, so everything I know about this process says I should be losing a bit, or staying the same..but not gaining. But the only way I can really know if I am right is to have a couple of good weeks together and then see where I'm at.. So that is my goal..to stick to my goals for two solid weeks, taking one day at a time, of course..

  I hope your knee feels better soon.

Have you been taking measurements? It could be that you're gaining muscle and losing fat - remember, muscle is denser than fat (1lb of fat takes up approx. 4x the space of 1lb of muscle). Even if you don't have a measuring tape, have you noticed a difference in how your clothes are fitting? There are lots of ways to measure your progress without getting on the scale.
