Children say the darnedest things!!!!!!!!

Monday, January 17, 2011

I have found that children are wonderful beings. As i served my 3 lil one's lunch. Xavier (8), Triston(7) and Navaeh (5) were having a conversation. Triston asked me if i could come volunteer at his school, so i said sure and walked out the kitchen. I hear X say T everyone is going to make fun of you if you let mom come to the school, T says no they aren't and X is like yes, they are going to say your mom is so fat. I didn't know what to say. I knew that my weight was an issue to my children, but i didn't realize it until that moment. It gets so much better than that. My daughter decides she needs to give me a pep talk, so she says " Mom just because you are fat doesn't mean I don't love you, you are pretty on the inside."

Now what do I say after that???? any advice cause i could sure use it. emoticon

I think it's important for your children to know that you are working towards making yourself healthier and that when they make comments like that it really hurts your feelings. I have a 5 year old as well and I've found that strangely enough the truth tends to be the best thing to tell him. Do you involve your kids in your workouts? If they are involved by going on walks with you or riding bikes (or riding bikes while you walk) they might see things differently.

I don't know if that was exactly *advice* but just keep your head up!
