Am I afraid of Success???

Sunday, January 16, 2011

I lost 40 lbs with weight watchers. It is a great program. I will be out of the plus size range if I lose another 10 lbs. I am having a difficult time getting back on track. I know that I need to stay within the points range but I am back to my old habit of eating milk duds on a daily basis. Which I know is out of my points range. Why am I doing this? I could easily be out of the plus size in another month or two. Am I afraid of Success?

I would love to know how all of you did with this. I have been having this chronic problem for about 5 years now. I went down from about 200 lbs to 128lbs after my daughter was born and have crept back up to 150 lbs in the last 5 years. My resolve and high spirits have taken a death spiral and no matter the amazing support I get from friends and programs I have tried, I seem to sabatoge myself after a few good weeks (or lately just a few good days). Anyone gone through this for a long time and been able to bust out of it?? emoticon

Its the darn plateaus and trying to deal with the frustration of them. Its so easy to pop a few milk duds, tootsie rolls, whatever in your mouth and have a mind blank on tracking them-especially if its that time of the month.

I say ditch the Milk Duds keep something more healthy on hand for a snack and join a SparkPeople challenge. I am on the last day of the 28 days bootcamp and its helped me stay accountable, more consistent with strength training, and helped during those days when you think- can't I just skip today (which usually has a snowball effect and we've all seen enough SNOW).

Come on Lisa, I know you can do this. Set yourself a few new fast break goals and reach them. emoticon

I am in that same boat. I only want to lose another 10-15 pounds but I can't stay focused long enough to do it. This is why I put myself on a 21 day challenge. I'm on day 7. It takes 21 days to form a habit. I want to get back to the habit of only having three meals and one afternoon snack. So far so good. You can do it too.

WORK FOR THE MILK DUDS MAKE THEM A TREAT IF YOU REACH YOUR GOAL AT THE END OF THE WEEK THEN YOU GET TO HAVE THEM I THINK IT'S HARDER TO SAY I WILL NEVER EAT THEM AGAIN AS A TREAT YOU WORK HARD FOR THEM AND HAVE SOME THING TO ENJOY UNTIL YOU FEEL YOU DON'T NEED THEM. emoticon ON THE 40LB WT LOSS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK REMEMBER PORTION CONTROL AND YOU CAN HAVE ANYTHING. emoticon

I know exactly what you mean. I would start a program be doing so good and quit. I think i'm afraid I will actually succeed in losing. I feel this time is different. You have gone so far. How exciting. I'm just in the beginning and so scared I'm going to quit before I get anywhere. Keep it up. If you can't stay away from the milk duds just eat half the bag and throw the other ones in the trash. Might feel good doing that too. emoticon
