Birthday Party and yoga

Sunday, January 16, 2011

I teach yoga in an after school program in a public school nearby. One the girls in my class has a mother who teaches in the school. In fact Heather was the one that got the yoga program started 3 years ago. After watching some of the unusual activities I do with the girls, she asked if I would do a yoga session for her daughter's birthday party.
I did it this afternoon and I'm not sure who had more fun.... me or the 8 10 year olds. Luckily Heather was there and took pictures. I also left some of my cards for her to give to the moms when they picked the girls up. I hope to be able to use some of the pictures to put together a flyer or tri-fold about this inventive way of having a healthy fun party activity. I have decided to charge $6 per person, with a minimum of $50 for an hour of activity. I will exempt the birthday child from the cost. I have found some great books and website with terrific ideas for games using yoga poses, etc.

Everyone can all benefit from doing yoga. My teacher even teaches to men who lift weights. Good luck with your adventure. If kids can learn karate they sure can learn yoga.
