Another setback

Saturday, January 15, 2011

I was so close to being all healed up from my hip injury a couple of months ago. I was feeling almost a 100% when of course I was pushed too far in the amount of carrying time I did. I am now complete off my feet for at least six days when I finish my steroid treatments. I can't tell you how horrible the pain was yesterday when I went into physical therapy. It was bad enough that my awesome therapist got me a doctor's appoitment immediately. Once again I am off work and unable to do anything. I won't know for sure the damage done until the inflammation in the tendon decreases. Best case is that I just aggrivated the injury and worst case is that some of the tendon is now detached from the bone. The doctor doesn't think I have a complete detachment because I can still lift my leg up but I have intense pain with it.

So I am home all day bored to death. I am not use to not doing anything. I am accustomed to being on my feet 6 to 8 hours a day most of it walking. Thank goodness for my Wii. I didn't realize all the games that I can play to work my upper body that I don't have to engage my legs. I am bummed because according to the doctor's scale I have lost 4 pounds in about 10 days. So I have my meal plans printed out and am making a huge effort to follow them as close as possible. Hopefully with what limited things I can do and keeping my calories in check I can keep the weight from coming back this time.

I agree the Wii has some great games that help with arm exercises.

So sorry to hear this, Amy -- but I am so impressed by you finding arm exercises to do!!

Maybe this is a good time to teach yourself to knit or crochet -- that's what I did after each of my last surgeries!

And think how great you can be supporting all of your spark buddies!!

Get better soon. Love to you!

Oh darlin I am so sorry to hear this. I know what it is like to be confined like that. It makes you want to pull your hair out. I hope for you that you only aggravated it and that you are back on your feet real soon. I am so glad that you have the Wii. It can help take your mind off of things for a bit at least and keep your upper body active. You have a good plan for your calories so that will help. Hey…Congrats on the 4 pound loss that is wonderful!

Hope you feel better soon. I know it's a bummer to be inactive but enjoy the time and read. It's so rare that we get any downtime. emoticon

Yes! You have such a positive attitude I LOVE it! Just because you can't excersize does not mean you have to eat poorly. Hopefully with what you CAN do with your upper body, and by eating right you can at least maintain. Good Luck!
