My new steps for today include green tea and a smaller plate.
We have had a bag of turtle tea in the cupboard for a while now. I brewed up 2 quarts, added a few drops of stevia and have been sipping on it all day. Amazing how our taste buds trigger memories. It tastes just like the tea I drank during my stay in Japan. That was a happy and exciting time in my life.
I didn't literally use a smaller plate today, but I did give my teenage son the portion that I usually take and took his smaller portion instead. When preparing meals, I dish them up in the kitchen, restaurant style before bringing them to the table. For years, I have dished up two adult plates and 4 smaller child plates. I have known for a while now that my son actually should be taking in more calories than me each day, but have only on occassion actually given him the bigger plate. He eats so slowly. But today is the first day of the new portion control. He and his dad get the adult portions and I will stick to the "children's meal".
