Exercise like crazy, eat right, GAIN weight? Keep at it, here's WHY (I got proof in PICS)

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Hi all

Like most of you, I have blogged or questioned the above frustrations!

SP-Friends Response:
Keep at it, Scale will soon follow, Muscle weighs more than fat,
Focus on non-scale victories
Scale is not your friend.
Do you take pics or measurement?

ANY of these sound FAMILIAR?

Well I kept at it, took pictures, started believing them.
I start to commenting the same verbage when confronted by a fellow sparker in the same shoe!

UNTIL today I realized! Why say all this when I got PROOF!!

My SP-Friends know all the answer, but why not play along ;p

PIC #1:
Question: What is the difference in lbs?

ANSWER: 1 lbs! 171 vs 170! Seriously, no joke!

PIC #2:
Question: Which me weighs less? By how much do you think?

ANSWER: Left one (black tank), 2 lbs, 159 vs 161! I kid you not!

PIC #3
Question: How much more lbs do you think I weigh more than them?
How much do they weigh?

ANSWER: left to right, 109, 160 (me), 118!

PIC #4
Question: What is the difference in lb in these pic?

ANSWER: Nada, Zero, Zip, Same! 159

PIC #5: piece de la resistance
Question: What is the difference in lbs in these pic?

ANSWER: "Zero, Absolutely NOTHING!", 1...6... Freaking 0!!!! since halloween, last is last week!

Getting the picture yet?
Keep at it: regardless on what the DARN scale say!

Scale will soon follow: Pic 4 is a difference of almost 3 month, 159-165-159

Muscle weighs more than fat: I think my pics proves that no?

Scale is not your friend: HECK yeah, it don't tell the WHOLE truth

Do you take pics or measurement? yes and yes

Focus on non-scale victories...........

If that is not prove enough, I got more!!!

SO I started my journey at 180 a size 14 (truthfully, but squeezing into 12)

@160 I got into old size 10s!!

@160, went from 10 to 8!!!

@160, went from 8 to 6!!!

@160, went from 6 to almost 4 (today)??!!!

I would really CRY if
@160 I am a 2

BUT that is another blog!

so let's not obess with the scale!

YEAH I am having big issues with the scale! I need to read this blog too!
HECK that's why I am writing it!

BUT hope you get more out of it than me ;p

Spark on!

  This was great. I tend to check the scale daily. Sometimes seeing that you've gained 5lbs in two days is discouraging. Scale is put away. Thank you.

  I wanted to say thank you. I have always weighed myself every morning and since I have working out and logging my food, it just keeps going up and it makes me want to give up. Now I realize I need to step away from the scale and just keep doing what I am doing and in time, I will see the same results.

    Thank you so much for posting this blog ! I've been down in the dumps as I've been logging calories and exercising more than I have in the past 3 years and my scale has gone down and now back up ! I've been feeling really depressed that none of this is working, so I guess I need to start taking selfies myself and get out my measuring tape. You've done a great job and I would have not guessed that you could weigh 160 and still tone up that much ! Thank you thank you thank you ! emoticon

    Thank you for this post. I know the scale is evil, but it still bugged me that it didn't move and in some cases increased. I feel more fit, but the numbers tell me differently. I'm going to start taking pictures, I think that is also a great way to tell. Thanks again.

  Thank you so much for this post. I really appreciate you documenting this, because I thought it was only happening to me and I was getting so discouraged. I am so emotional because it has been so frustrating, because I have been eating right and exercising twice a day 5 days a week without losing any weight.

I am so grateful to have found this - it has renewed my motivation.

  This is my problem. My clothes fit great and I look and feel great. The only problem is that my weight will not budge. I work out everyday. My workouts are bike riding, interval on the treadmill, jump rope and cardio workouts. I figured I was gaining muscle. This post made my day. I am going to keep working out and eating right. It is discouraging that the scale won't budge but I am willing to wait. Thanks APIRLRAIN888. Your post was very inspiring.

    Thank-you! Just what I needed. Been losing weight very slowly (and some weeks not at all). I keep reading that losing slowly is the best way to lose. I guess so, but it is sure going to take forever to get to my goal.
After my last weigh in, I wanted to do an extra push to get over a hump and get to that magic 20 pounds lost. So, I stepped up my exercising: longer, more challenging walks...and more often. I watched calories and ate smaller meals. I wanted a victory, so I busted my butt.
Lo and behold, weighed in this morning looking forward to reaping the benefits of my hard work...and I GAINED a pound. I was shocked and depressed. Thanks for blogging this. I can pick my head back up now. emoticon

    Oh my gosh! So glad I found this! I had just searched Spark People for "Still gaining weight" and this blog post was the first to show up! This is encouraging, because I started SparkPeople March 27th, and by May 8th, I had lost 10 pounds. And I haven't lost anything since. In fact, I've put on a pound or two here and there and then lost it again. So this last couple of weeks, I've been really working at it and stepped on the scale this morning and...+1! So imagine my confusion. But seriously, this helps. So thank you. :)

  You are awesome! Same thing is happening to me right now. I'm eating right, I've been excersing, cardio and strength training 3-4 times a week, but the scale is going up! People tell me I'm losing weight, but the scale was saying something diffferent. So, I decided to hide the scale and keep on working out. Glad to see your hard work paid off, hope to say the same for myself in a few months.

    i also have problems with this issue about weight. I started exercising very intensely about 60 min. per day for 6 days per week, but about a week before i started exercising a lot i was still gaining and not seeing results, but i don't think i have muscle either since i look the same. I just started taking all measurements and see after time decreases, i sure hope so. I was just 160 2 weeks ago and now i'm up to 174 so i have no idea what is going on, it keeps going up and up and i even bought a bmi scale that also reads water weight. I started drinking a lot of water since yesterday 8 - 8 oz like it recommends as says should help lose weight, not working yet just going bathroom every few minutes which sux. How long did it take for you to notice any results? Was curious since i haven't noticed any and been exercising since last summer but just started doing intensely since last wknd.

    Thank you thank you thank you!!! I have been working really hard the last two weeks. First I was down six pounds now I'm back up two. I feel good and even my boyfriend told me I look like I"ve lost weight. I actually had to go buy bigger pants to. Don't understand...but I"m going to take your word and pictures at face value and keep working. If I'm at size eight and still weigh the same who cares!! I still would love to be a size eight!! emoticon

    I haven't taken any pictures of me lately because the scale says I hover around the 210 mark, but I see that taking pictures/measuring would show the actual loss. I have gone from totally nothing to walking 1.5 - 2 miles most days. Thanks for the pictures and your blog! emoticon

    Thanks! Just went away for a week's vacation, ate very healthfully and exercised a lot more than usual - several walks a day on the beach and through the woods and up and down three flights of stairs 6 times a day. Thought I'd lost at least 5 lbs, but came home to find just 1.5 lbs down. WTF? Even my husband thought I'd lost more weight and could see it. Ah well. I must have gained muscle. ;) YOU sure did!!! You look great!!!

I have workout buds and folks at home telling me I look smaller but the scale says nope, no your not, ut uh, fat chance. Well, this was inspiring to know! Thanks for helping me feel better about my efforts, because I thought I was doing all this working out for not, blaming my age, stress, etc.

    Thank you for that. I'm having the same problems right now, and even though I know the scale doesn't tell the whole story, it has a lot of power, if you let it have that power. I think I really need to burn the darn thing and just go by the tape and the picts and the calipers.
