Why does good news always seem to be followed by bad?

Friday, January 14, 2011

I'm not much of a blogger which should be evident by now because I've never really felt like I had that much to say that anyone would want to read. Don't get me wrong, I love to read others' blogs but mine, well, not so much. Anyway, I felt the need to write because I feel guilty that I was so happy & relieved yesterday about my "all-clear" mammogram. Yes, it sounds silly even to me, but my sister is still battling an aggressive, rare GYN cancer and has had to be hospitalized across the country. No other details because I AM HERE not there giving her support. And so, I just ate two servings of gingersnaps which helped neither of us.

You already know that I think you should celebrate your good news! I agree with everyone else that the gingersnaps weren't that big of a deal. I am very sorry to hear about your sister. I can relate to you feeling guilty. When I finished chemo, a good friend of mine was still doing hers and she's been through so much more than I have. I did feel guilty too. I even told her so. You know what? She told me not to feel guilty and to celebrate because we each have our own journey. Try not to be hard on yourself. I am sure that your sister would've wanted you to be happy and celebrate too! Just because you're far away doesn't mean you can't offer any support. Look at all the support we get from Spark! emoticon

I am so glad you are healthy and your mammogram was "all clear."

My prayers go out to your sister and your family.

Gosh - I do love a good old ginger snap with my coffee. You have good taste in cookies, gorgeous.

I have to agree with 1BEARWIFE. Rejoice in your good news, and those ginger snaps (in moderation) are not bad for you.

Prayers for your sister. I think she feels your support even though you are not physically with her.

as someone who has been through cancer (a very easily-treatable form, thankfully), NEVER take your health for granted. i roll my eyes every time i have a check-up and my mom lets out a gigantic sigh, even though its been over 3 years, but its always a relief for me too. and i understand feeling guilty - its strange trying to figure out how to go about your life, especially the good moments, when someone you know is suffering, but im sure your sister would be thrilled that youre in the clear. ill keep her in my prayers.

Sorry to hear about your sister...just try to remember next time when you feel bad, remember this moment (when after eating something like that) how you felt afterwards. You're right it doesn't help but it's just a lesson learned. No one is perfect and we all give in. Plus who says you'll never eat a cookie again. lol I hope things look up for your sister soon. Stay strong! And congrats on the results of your test! That's something to blog about!! :) Now forgive yourself and move on...you can do it!

I'm so glad your mammogram report was good. I got my report on Wednesday and mine was good also.

I'm sorry your sister is not having such good news and I know how tough and frustrating it must be to so far away. I guess you can just talk to her on the phone and write to her to let her know you're thinking about her. I'm sending up a prayer for the both of you right now.

I totally agree! Congrats on your mammogram! My appointment is coming up soon and I am terrified! As for your sister, you know that she would be thrilled to hear the news about you; and you can continue to support her in her battle and continue to give her strength! As for the gingersnaps? I think you can have five at a time and it isnt a big deal! But go for a walk anyway; you will feel better!

I don't think it is silly at all about your "all clear" mamogram!! I think it is MARVELOUS!!!

And I don't think those ginger snaps are going to cause you much harm, either! emoticon
