Debate with hubby.

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Was talking with hubby last night and I said my Dr. does not tell me I need more cardio and he said but I am losing weight. So the debate is which is better? He is losing weight on a regular basis but hardly ever does any cardio exercise and does about 5 minutes a day of strength. I on the other hand lose weight very slowly but have lost inches I do very regular cardio Zumba, running, belly dance, and lately lots of snow shoveling and a fair amount of strength exercises almost daily. I think I am getting the healthier end of the deal I think he disagrees because I take flax seed oil caps and red yeast rice along with exercise to keep my cholestrol in check and he is just going off cholestrol meds because they are bothering him to see if he can keep it down without. I think I am getting healthy from the inside out. Guess his next Dr.'s appt in 6 months will tell...

Glad to hear I am not the only one with a hubby like that. Although I have to admit he is walking the track tonight (I think) while our son is at basketball practice. I am off to Zumba or I would have joined him.

My husband told me that if he needed to exercise his doctor would have told him to. Instead he takes 6 pills twice a day. Because his doctor writes prescriptions instead of telling him to get his diet in check and get a little exercise!! He is just borderline on everything. It annoys me to death because if he would just lose 25# and walk daily he wouldn't need all the pills. He's only 46! BUT he has finally taken a good look at how much my body has physically changed and has a new attitude. Knock on wood... 3 days in a row he has been on the treadmill walking with dumbbells for 30 min. I absolutely believe we have to balance nutrition, cardio and strength training for the optimum results. I know several people that severely cut calories and some that dieted plus cardio... they did lose weight, but their bodies are a wreck still with plenty of body fat because they lost a lot of lean mass. We need cardio to get our heart in shape and strength training to maintain lean mass. That takes work and most people will come up with their own theories why they don't have to do it that way. I had plenty of excuses! But now I know what I have to do to be the fit person I want to be and I am really working to get my husband on board with that program!

True he does do lots of things like that. LOL. But I want him to be around hence why I thought he should have more activity.

I agree with you. Some day his inactivity will come back to bite him in the butt. Still, he's awful cute & you should keep him around.....who else is going to set up your tent in the rain for you!!!!
