Half Marathon #7 this weekend!
Thursday, January 13, 2011
I was supposed to be doing the full... It would've been Marathon #3... and #2 in qualifying for the Marathon Maniacs. But, after getting injured in November after my last marathon, the full just wasn't in the cards for this weekend.
I have gotten my long runs back up to 10 miles. This weekend will be 13.1... my longest since November. I am excited! It's the run that I did as my first full marathon last year, and the anniversary of the first time that I met Wendy and Page in person! :) It's hard to believe that Wendy and I have done SO MANY races together since then, and have 9 or more on the calendar together for 2011!
My daughter will be the finish line photographer and my coach will be the mile 6 photographer! It's going to be a good run.
My plan right now is to get a few miles in today and tomorrow, even though I will be doing the half. There will be no taper this go-around. The fact of the matter is, I am still training for a full marathon in March, and the half will just be a training run. I am not looking to break any land-speed records. I just want to run it fairly easy and get my confidence back up that I really CAN run over 10 miles again. LOL
The plan for Saturday is to get up early (allow myself enough time to relax a little before heading out) and to get there early enough to avoid the traffic fiasco that we encountered last year. My daughter is going to be a "real photographer", so she has to be there early enough that Tommy (coach/photographer) can get her set up and tell her what to do.
After this run, I am considering the half at Callway Gardens on the 30th, and am registered for the Tallahassee Half on February 6th... followed by the Snickers Half on March 5th, followed by the Georgia Marathon on March 20th!
OH! And the 5K that my company paid for last year is a go again for this year. They are paying the registration fees again! February 26th I will be running the Cantrell Center 5K! And you can't beat FREE! ;)
