I am taking a series of yoga classes based on the chakras or 7 centers along the spine that are thought of as wheels of energy. The first one is represented by the color red and is the root chakra located below the base of the spine. It is where our sense of groundedness and stability. It is almost like the first layer of Maslow's hierarchy - the need for food, clothing, safety and security. Our practice was based on being rooted through our feet or glutes for all of the poses. At the end the meditation introduction was the following: May you find rootedness, stability, and a sense of connection to all.
