Today was my Doctor's visit. Well we all know I have not been behaving because with all of this white stuff
we have been having
I am almost afraid to utter the word because it will just start falling. They are saying 10-15 inches between tonight and tomorrow.
I digress. I have been shoveling snow and I am not supposed to be doing that. Duh! Any one with a brain could figure that out but did I pay attention? NOPE! It seems I may have rolled my foot the last time I was out shoveling . The top of the foot is swollen as well as the side of the ankle and that was 8 AM this morning so just imagine what it is like by the end of the day. The X Ray did not show any further brake of my foot which was a good thing. However it did not show enough healing to warrant my graduating from the "Boot" to a good supportive sneaker. It has been 7 weeks since I broke it and since I did not "behave' I have to wear this heavy contraption for another 4 weeks till my next visit.
The doctor knew I would probably be out shoveling again with this major storm hitting today into tomorrow
so he told me to be extra careful. When I am done I am to come inside and elevate foot with an ice pack 20 minutes on and 40 minutes off. He would prefer I snag some neighborhood kids to shovel but in my neighborhood they are far and few between and they have no idea what it means to make a little money on the side. They would rather play their video games or go snow boarding. Snow shoveling is not up their on their lists of things to do.
We'll see. Translation I will be out there shoveling.
I asked him the diabetes question as a few of you inquired along with my Mother. Yes diabetes does play a factor in the healing time. However he does not feel that is an issue in my case. He says I am pretty much on schedule due to my age and weight even with my snow shoveling escapades. I am just paying the price by not getting to graduate to a sneaker yet.
I deserved it. I made the choice.
Don't say it! I know
