Getting Healthy IS my job
How about you?
This afternoon, I rested. I hurt. I wrapped up in a blanket in my chair, with my favorite fur buddy, Peaches who worked at warming my ache. When my son got home I knew I would need to go out, and I wanted to do it before it got dark and I chickened out due to cold and pain. See, he needed boots. In fact, he needed shoes. But, being 18 he is very opinionated over what he gets, or I buy for him. His girlfriend was with him, so she went along with us. She helped him pick out some boots, and she is as frugal a shopper as I am, so that was really pretty cool. I also found 2 pairs of casual shoes for him that he liked that were inexpensive. I had to pick up a few other things so I could make supper for the rest of the week, since snow is expected this week.
While in the shoe department, I picked up a second pair of shoes by danskin that I liked - I bought a pair before Christmas and I really like them, and they were still marked down. I go through shoes quickly due to my flat feet, and my back pain. I also found some boots. Cute boots. Really cute boots. I have been looking for winter boots that I like for a few years, and I found them. (two pairs of boots, three pairs of shoes, and a wallet for about $100!)
Why is this the up side of the pedal? It was hard to move. It was hard to get out of my cozy nest and put on my coat and go out into the cold, but my son had needs. By the time we were home, my pain had decreased about 35%, bringing me to about a 4 on a scale of 1-10, so that was much better than the 8 I was feeling. I walked in the department store, I walked in the parking lot (carefully avoiding icy patches), and in the grocery store. I forgot my pedometer, so I guesstimate from previous trips, about 1.5 miles. So even if I did not get my intervals in, I did get another form of fitness in besides my morning stretches. Forced movement to get my pedals going.
Here are my boots! I am thrilled. They have better traction in the soles to help prevent slippage, and they are easy to put on and take off, and are pretty comfortable.

my original Danskin shoes - they are slip on. Usually, these kind of shoes do not work for me, but this particular model does. Especially with pending surgeries - where tying shoes may be a problem.
Hopefully, I will try the bike tomorrow, and will get better sleep tonight.
