Since my husband and I met 6yrs ago, we've watched each other go from this skinny cute couple to pleasantly plumb and beyond. The past 6 months or more have had me concerned about my husband. I've watched his legs swell and a cough develop. And, like most men, if I say anything to him or ask him to go to a doctor, he refuses to acknowledge that anything is wrong and will dig his heals in even more. So I say nothing and worry more.
Last Wednesday, he took himself to a clinic convinced that he has cellulitis. The swelling in his legs so bad that his calfs are red and he can barely lift them high enough to get into the car. Instead, he is informed by the doctor that the swelling is due to his heart and high blood pressure. In fact, his blood pressure is so out of control the doctor tells him he's in danger of having a stroke. The only reason why he wasn't sent to the emergency room was that 1) he walked into the clinic on his own. The doctor was surprised he was able to get himself to the clinic. And 2) with the help of some medication, they were able to bring the blood pressure down to 211/? When he told me that, I almost had a stroke!!!!
Needless to say, it's been a rough few days around here. The doctor sent him home with 4 different heart medications. He's had a hard time adjusting to them. All of them have the side effects of nausea, dizziness and light headedness. He was feeling so bad, he asked me to stay home with him.
I've been grocery shopping and just stunned at the amount of sodium in EVERYTHING! It's crazy! Looks like I'll be learning how to cook only fresh foods and baking our own bread.
Anyways, please say a prayer for Mike.
