Weighing fears after a months long absence...

Sunday, January 09, 2011

Finally got back on the scale earlier this week after not having been on for almost three months. It is one of the Mary Lou Retton scales that measures your weight relatively... compared with where you were last time, and in 10 pound increments. This sort of approach is necessary for me, as I get upset if the scales say a number I don't like.

This said, I still wasn't able to get myself to use the same "setting" on it. I set myself up as another person with a fresh starting point. At least I will have something to measure against now.

Maybe weight numbers don't bother other people, but they really set me off. Interestingly, since having weighed myself on Tuesday, I have been able to focus better on planning to eat healthfully, and doing it. In certain respects, it is a relief to have weighed myself. One of the keys is to KEEP weighing myself regularly.

I too have not weighed myself in over 6 months!! I am going to the gym today to finally bite the bullet. I have been working so hard this week to count calories and watch what I eat I figure I should use the numbers on the scale as motivtion. I am like you where I probably won't like what they tell me, BUT, with any luck it will fuel me to work harder! Good luck on your weight loss!
