We want to eat healthier, so I know some of us have cleaned out our pantry fridge & freezer. Well I'll admit I'm one of them. "Out of Sight, Out of Mind" is great way to stay on track but it's not reasonable on a tight budget to throw away non-diet food.
I took out all the food I am staying away from & put on bottom shelf of fridge & freezer and in right side of pantry. Instead of throwing it away, my thin healthy-as-an-ox husband will eat the cake, cookies, high fat soups, high-fructose corn syrup pasta sauce etc.
When we got paid, I cut out coupons & looked for sales in store ads. Bought Yoplait Light yogurt for 40 cents each, Healthy Choice & Lean Cuisine TV dinners for $1.49 each, lean steak for $1.99 lb, and veggies to make soups & salads.
I use powdered milk in my coffee to add a little protein & calcium, and Splenda plus Fiber for fiber in my coffee too. Egg beaters was on sale too! I love using coupons on sale stuff.
Progresso Soup was only 99cents. Bought the ones that were only 1 point on Weight Watchers. Turkey chili that's 94% fat free is low points as well. Note that on my side is vegetables, no sugar added fruit, and sugar0free Jello & pudding. Only whole wheat flour on my side too, lol.
It's a start to a healthy 2011!
