Well what a busy week or so it has been! In the space of a week I have resigned from my current child minding position, been offered and accepted a new position which wasn't definate when I resigned and lots more but let me start from the beginning.
On New Years eve in the day I went for a job interview to mind 3 children ranging from ages 5 to 12. I was under the impression that it will be a full time position with better pay and hours than what I am doing now. Turns out the position would only be for 3 months which was very disappointing as I got on so well with the kids, the dog and the mother. We agreed that she would give the position to somebody else and if it did become permanent she would get in contact with me and offer the post to me. Went home feeling slightly deflated as I need to change my job. Mu current job is not good for my children. I only finish work after 8pm which means I have to carry sleeping kids out of a warm house into the cold to my car and it just puts their whole routine out. A few hours later I got a call from her asking me if I would reconsider as her children begged her saying they wanted me to look after them. She said we would work something out after the 3 months. I decided to take a leap of faith and take the position. It means that I only work 4 hours a day Mon to Fri during school time and full days when it is school holidays. Even though I only work 20 hours a week it is still a better salary to what I am getting now and the added bonus is I would finish work at 6:30pm, plenty time for me to get home and put the kids to bed, routine once again!!!!!!
Had a great New Years eve, quiet but good. Cooked a 3 course dinner for some of my friends who needed a bit of pampering and showed off my culinary skills in the process. It was a big hit and turned out to be a nice and relaxed evening. Only drank 2 glasses of red wine so was proud of that!
New Years day I broke the news to my old boss that I would no longer be looking after her kids. Gave her a weeks notice which is a bit short but luckily enough she is able to work night shifts so there will still be someone with her kids after today when I leave. It was hard telling her as I have looked after her 2 boys for over 2 years now and have grown close to the family plus she is the godmother of my daughter. Luckily enough we are still friends and will still see each other. So my last days with her would be the Monday, Tuesday and Friday of this week. The Wednesday and Thursday I would be in my new job.
Decided to join Weight Watchers on Wednesday so I am now back with Weight Watchers trying out their new program. It takes a bit of getting used to but I think it is a better system to the old ones that they have had in the past. Time will tell though... Wednesday afternoon I started at my new job which was great. It is a bit peculiar looking after older kids but it has its perks. lol When my boss came home on Wed eve she informed me that it was actually just an interview that she had that day and she would only know if she had the job the next day. This was insane as I had already resigned at my old job and need to work in order to provide for my kids! Well needless to say it was a sleepless night on Wednesday with lots of thoughts running through my head!
Phone rang on Thursday and guess what - she got the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never felt so relieved before. I am already taking a leap of faith that this position will be for longer than 3 months but I wouldn't have taken such a huge leap if I had known that the position was not a definate just yet! Well it paid off and I now start my new job on Monday afternoon leaving me Monday morning to get everything in order at home and get my exercise in.
I am working my last day in my old job today with sick kids (not mine luckily) so hopefully mine won't get sick.
This weekend is going to be a relaxed and chilled one...
