Is it real food?

I've started making my own bread! I love it: not only the taste of "real" bread with no preservatives, but the fun of actually being in the kitchen, participating in this activity that's been a part of humanity for thousands and thousands of years... I just enjoy it. :) And it's such a feeling of accomplishment when you go in to find the dough's risen!

Part of my SparkPeople journey has been learning to eat "real" food instead of processed food. Now, I do still eat some; I will admit to having frozen pizza in my freezer and Rice a Roni in my cupboard, but since SparkPeople is about moderation, I'm not honestly too fussed about it. However, I've been enjoying learning how to prepare, and enjoy, real food: fresh produce, fresh (or flash-frozen) meat, and beans & lentils. I'm discovering that I'm spending more and more time around the edges of the grocery store--produce, dairy, deli, and meat--and less and less time in the actual aisles. It's helped me lose 50 pounds so far, so no arguments there! :D

    You're way ahead of me on the breadmaking - I've bought 3 breadmakers and all the ingredients and wound up giving them all away each time. I am committed that someday I will make my own bread, doggone it!

    My husband and I also started doing this last year. I don't think it's good for us to be ingesting a bunch of chemicals disguised as food. We're not militant about it, but we are trying to make better choices.

    I'm totally about eating real food. I think it is the best way to eat. I believe in eating everything, as long as its fresh and "real". I love making home made bread. I love eating butter. I love eating ice cream, and there is nothing wrong with that! Moderation is key for some. But don't deprive yourself people, just eat real nothing processed. I have lost 75 lbs doing this :)
