Balancing my life

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

How do I balance, keep up with everything? I don't, my blog the other day said as much. In my Bible study "Living a Life with Balance" it mentions what Jesus said about worrying - Luke 12:22, 23.

"Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes."

And in Luke 12:31 Jesus tells us "Seek HIS kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well."

I forget this, maybe you also forget this, it is difficult to remember that GOD will provide and is with us when we feel we are at our limits and have nowhere to go. It is at those times, I (and you) need to remember to go to GOD, he is our Heavenly Father and HE wants us to turn to him at all times.

Only with GOD can I truly balance my life, first (1) I need to turn to Him in praise, asking for forgiveness, and asking for blessings/help for myself and others.

Even as I struggle now with natural/physical things, I can flourish in the Spirit when I place GOD first in my life. That is when the other things will balance out.

Have I done this? no; Am I working on it? YES; Is it difficult? YES
Other things seem to creep up on my time and push me away from my GOD. I need to slow down in the morning, afternoon, and evening to take time to talk, pray, and meet with GOD - devotions, Bible study, Bible reading, prayer. Just as I take time for family and friends, I (we) need to take time with GOD. HE is there/here waiting for us (me).

Have you done this? Is it difficult for you? What do you think? Is your life balanced?

I think my most difficult task in my walk with the Lord, is complete trust. I will turn a problem over to Him but if I don't get an answer that same day, I take it right back!. A former Pastor of ours knew how I struggle with this so he met me at church one week day and he was carrying a small laundry basket. He told me to right down all the things I was having problems with, put the list in the basket and carry it up and place it on the altar. Then turn my back on it and walk away. I felt like I was abandoning a child! It was awful but it did work. Now, every time I feel like I can't let go of a problem, I mentally do the same thing. It doesn't have quite the same effect, but it does help.
