Learning from Job...Keeping my Goals

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

I opened up my calendar for the new year (yeah, 2011 is here!) and the first thing I see is a verse from Job {22:28} and realized that this could be my verse to remind me of my goals and that I am not alone in working towards those goals.

Job 22:21-28
21 Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.
22 Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart.
23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent
24 and assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines,
25 then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you.
26 Surely then you will find delight in the Almighty and will lift up your face to God.
27 You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows.
28 What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways.

If I give my goals to God, then He will be there with me as I work towards meeting those goals. He will bless me.
My main goal is to lose weight & get my body to a healthier state. This works with God's goals for me. My body is a temple to him {1 Cor. 6:19-20} and as such, I need to treat it better than I have been lately.

19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body," ~1 Cor. 6:19-20

With God's help, I will make this body a beautiful temple for Him. Selah.
