After participating in an incredibly tough, hilly, breezy, and cold 5K yesterday, I was so discouraged that my time was worse than in September. I kept wondering if I should cut back to the 5K instead of the 10K I'm training for in March. I had a DUH moment. Regardless of how much training I do, my body is simply having to haul too much weight around! Getting the weight off HAS to become my #1 priroity. I'm going to continue to train for the 10K up until the time I have to make the decision, and if my progress is not where it needs to be then I'll bump it back to the 5K and bust my fat butt to improve my time. Seeing no progress in ANY arena is getting old. BUT, the holidays AND my excuses are history as of this very moment. And, if I am seeing progress in stamina and distance, then I'll commit to the 10K.
Going into "immersion mode" - by listening to Fat 2 Fit Radio on my iPod, reading my running books & magazines, being consistent in logging my healthy diet on Sparkpeople, and bumping up the exercise minutes back to 300 per week minimum.
Being all half=hearted about this has not worked, so am going to have to throw myself into it 100%. You heard it here, folks!
