Frustration

I have family and friends who I love dearly and are unhealthy weights. I so want them to find the inspiration I have from this Spark site - but don't want to offend or sound like I am hounding them. I also want them active here to understand and participate in my support network (which I am trying to build at the moment). I even went so far as to sign some on myself .... lol .... but to date not one has made a spark page - or read my congratulatory emails - I know cause I talk to them almost every day lol. Any suggestions - should I just let it go???? I am sincerely fearful of losing them early and so want them to enjoy a healthy life and healthy body. I have had complete strangers already in Spark that have lifted me and touched my heart and inspire me... I figure if anyone can give me suggestions - its YOU, the members of Spark - I am asking.... for your thoughts and help......and ideas.... I look forward to your thoughts ......

    Well sis I am here and have been on everyday for the last 3 days and have made my sparks page................thanks for your encouragement. Checking in and see how we are doing. You know the old adage "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink" . We all get on board at our own rate and I know I am trying so just keep encouraging but don't hound lol. love you and appreciate your help. emoticon

    I totally understand your frustration. My brother-in-law is having problems with uncontrolled diabetes right now and I'm very concerned about him. I've talked to him about this site and what a great resource it is, but he hasn't looked at it yet. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.

Maybe, you could start out small with your friends and family. Ask one or several of them if they would like to start walking with you on a regular basis. Encouraging them towards consistent physical activity of any form is helpful.

As you continue to lose weight and get healthier, your friends and family are going to start asking you questions about how you are doing it. Leading by example is usually the best way to get others to change.

Food and weight problems are a type of addiction. People have to be ready to make the change in their lives before they will be successful.
