1. Where are you now?
I am 50 pounds overweight and physically out of shape. My blood pressure is on the high side. I am feeling physically unattractive and weak. Depression has reduced my desire for social interaction and enthusiasm for the new and challenging. Finances have been tight for several years and I would like to feel more in control of them.
2. What do you want to accomplish and change?
I want to lose 30 pounds by June 30 to be ready to enjoy the summer and getting to my goal weight by November of 2011 I plan to go from a 40 inch pant back to a 34 or better yet 32 in waist. I would like to be able to jog or run a 5 k by the end of the summer and to find some like minded people interested in maintaining a healthy mind and body to support my efforts.
3. Why do you want to make this change? I feel the excess fat is unattractive and feels odd on my body, I don't look like my vision of myself, I want to regain the strength and flexibility I had 10 years ago. While I do have friends, I would like a few that are more integrated to my goals and desires.These actions should improve my health and help with depression.
4. How are you going to make this change?
I will accomplish this by journaling my food intake and moods/thoughts, following the Weight Watchers program. Walking 5x a week 30-60 minutes, start with 3 body weight training sessions for the winter and move to weight training in April and find a weekly yoga class for flexibility. I am using Sparkpeople, Craiglist and Facebook to find fitness buddies to help me stay focused and motivated.
I will continue to get medical and peer support for my depression.
5. When will you accomplish this change?
I have started today and want to be below 200 pound by June 30, 2011 that should drop my pants size to 38-36 and be at 170 by November 1, 2011
I will continue to explore groups in which I can participate and socialize aiming to go to at least one meet and greet a month to keep making progress
