A New Year...A New Outlook

Saturday, January 01, 2011

As I reflect back over the last year, I realize that I have not been consistent in my goals to be healthier and more active. I didn't end up keeping most of the resolutions that were made in 2010. I could think of so many New Years resolutions to make for this new year but since most of us usually don't end up keeping those resolutions, I'm going to try something different this year.

Making resolutions focuses on what is wrong with us. I want to turn that around and instead of a list of resolutions, l want to make a list of what is RIGHT in my life...the blessings I have been given, the good friends, my family, my health...and have that as my focus instead as we enter this wonderful new year.

I am so grateful for all the gifts, blessings, and resources that God has blessed me with!

I am grateful for my family and also that my mother is still here with us in spite of her 4+ years battle with pancreatic cancer!

I am grateful for my friends... and the chance to meet new friends and reconnect with old friends on Facebook and Spark People!

I am grateful for my health!

I pray that in 2011..... I have a grateful heart, that I see the positive in me and in others, and that I might be a light to others traveling on this journey with me. Here's to 2011 being a fabulous year!

The picture is awesome, 2010 will disappear but there is this lingering and there is 2011.

Great idea being grateful and resolutions can be really great when focusing on the positiv (as you mentioned before).
We can always focus on the strength we have and set a positive goal going forward being informed by the past but leaving the past where it belongs - in the past.
My resolution is to run at least one Half Marathon and continue to being grateful for all the blessings in my life.
    Thanks Bonnie for the inspiration.

Bonnie, how positive is your outlook! That is how I try to be each day. Being negative is such a waste of time. Look on the bright side seems a much better way.
I too am grateful for all the connections I've made here and on FB.
Plus so happy for your Mom!

    Hi Bonnie,
I like your thinking of looking at the positive things in your life, rather than setting New Years Resolutions that you'll most likely not keep. We all have so many positive things in our lives to be thankful for. We are so blessed in many ways. I hope you have a Great Year and many to come of great health and much happiness! I haven't chatted with you in a long time. I hope you're doing great and things are all going well for you!

    Have an Awesome Year!
    Hugs,
    Sharla
