It is a brand new year and it is time to set goals for the new year. These are generally called resolutions. My experience is that these tend not to get out of the starting box. Usually they are too broad to complete. Go on a diet does not set a goal. It is a statement of intent to "do" something with no start or finish line or even mapped out path to run on. They don't make it past the first week or two. Another is impossible goals that cannot be completed. Loosing 100 pounds in a year is not a rational goal. It is not a safe or sound way to loose weight. Stopping when you hit road blocks is easier. That finish line is way too far away and the project is dropped in the first month. I'm going shine myself up for my _________ . Goals that are done for someone else are doomed to fail when the someone else doesn't notice the work that is being done. They frequently even sabotage the effort. Do it for yourself. You ARE worth it.
This is all old news that is in all the magazines at the start of the year. What am I going to do. I am not going to gain back any of the weight I have lost. At the first 1/2 pound I am going to step up the exercise and food watch. Any further weight loss will be applauded and added to weight stay off goals. This does not sound exciting, but I know it can be done. By checking each week, my weight will not get out of control again. This is not a resolution, this is a life goal that I can live with forever and still enjoy my world. 2011 is a new decade. It is bound to be different. Shall we go enjoy. YES!!!!
