So I was making my lunch for work today when all of a sudden...
...apple bunnies invaded my meal! Look at that one in the front, he's really going at my peas and carrots!
So, not as neat and tidy as yesterday's, but the apple bunnies were worth showing off. As you can see, I like the cupcake cups. They're so versatile! So, my parents discovered this magical powder, it's called Fruit-Fresh. It keeps your produce from going brown, just like lemon does only without the sharp lemony flavor. Apparently it adds about 5 calories though, but that's like chewing a stick of gum, so I'm not concerned about it. Adding 5 calories to my daily intake is probably a good thing.
According to my nutrition log, I'm actually averaging 200-300 less calories than I should! Some days I barely bump the 1200 mark, and most days I'm tottering around 950. That surprised the crap outta me. That would explain my plateau though - of course my body doesn't want to give up more fat, it's barely getting enough to keep it satisfied as it is! It would also explain why I'm always hungry. And here I thought I was eating too much! Really, just goes to show you, it's about quality, not frequency.
I'm really happiest when I can munch throughout the day on little, healthy things. You know, a carrot here, a cup of yogurt there. I'm not a big fan of "meal time" unless it's an excuse to spend time with my friends and/or family.
So, what I've noticed:
Big meals hurt my stomach, make me feel bloated, and then I'm starving an hour later. Crazy. But when I eat small, healthy snacks frequently, I feel good, and get little munchy hungry signs, not crazy voracious hunger pains. But what am I supposed to do when I work an eight-hour on-yer-feet closing shift where I may or may not get that 10 minute break? I mean, I know people do it, I just don't know how. Is there anyone out there (hello... hello....?) who knows how to battle the dreaded JOB in their quest for healthy living?
