Hi everyone

One of our biggest goals is to make SparkPeople easier and more powerful to use for all our members, both new and experienced. After getting considerable feedback from our members and coaches we re-worked our "Start" page, which is the page you see immediately after logging in to the site.

You have the option to switch to our new Start page, unless you are a new member who joined after 10:30 AM Eastern Time today, in which case you will automatically see the new Start page. If you are an experienced member who changes to the new Start page you have the option to switch back to the old, or "classic" Start page, right after you switch. You can switch to the new page by finding and clicking the "Try the new Start page" link on the upper left of the Start page. If you'd like to see a preview of the new Start page you can click here.

We believe this new Start page will make SparkPeople easier to use for everyone. Some changes include:
- Quick views of your goal progress on the left of the page
- As easier view of site content at the top center of the page, plus quick links to your special programs and challenges in the center of the page
- Easy access to the SparkPoints wheel and Trophies in the center of the page
- Display of your friend feed, and the ability to update your Status, on the lower right of the page
- A generally improved visual design, to make everything easier to find

As mentioned above, changing to the new page is currently optional. If you do change to the new page and have any suggestions for things to change please leave a comment below.

Thanks for the great feedback everyone -- I'm happy to hear you like the new Start page!

Edited to Add: We now have a new video showcasing the start page and how to use it. You can view it on YouTube:

Great update! I really like the "instant" calorie, exercise and weight loss tickers without having to go through menus.

Thanks SparkPeople!

I'm liking the new start page, but missing the "My Spark America Fitness Minutes" and the "My Favorite" link. If they are there, I missed them, but I thought I checked out every new inch. Thanks for updating the site , keeps it the best Motivational site on the internet. emoticon

I'm trying the new Start page, but it isn't what I had hoped.
I want a link to SPark Mail and to be able to add/delete some of the items and move the items around so that the things that are most important to me are right at my fingertips. As it is now, I still have to click several links to get to my mail and my blog/message board subscriptions, etc.

Thanks for at least trying to improve it, though. I realize running SP is a huge job and I do appreciate that you are always trying to keep things fresh!

I like the new page but miss the points wheel automatically popping up. Is there a way to get that feature back? Since it's at the bottom of the page, it's required to scroll down to get to it.

I am trying to make the decision if there is enough difference to purchase the new version of the Spark. I love my first copy.
I noted they were offering a copy of Fit Firm and Fired Up. I have this video and use it a great deal. If I would purchase the new version, is it possible to subsitute one of her other videos?

I nearly miss the fine words of "Try the new Spark page" at the top-left.
I love the new version, it's more simple and user-friendly and also much cleaner, tidier! Wonder if this will affect the mobile users (not that I'm using mobile for SP but going to do that starting mid-2011 when I (hopefully) get a better phone, hehe).

Generally I like the look but I miss the "Today on SparkPeople" strip on the right with favourites, "hot" messageboard topics, blogs etc. I feel connected with the community with that there so I'll be sticking with the old version. I like the new progress views for calories etc on the new page but that's not enough to make me change. Sorry!

I'd use it if the 'my favourites' list was still available, I probably use that more than anything else. Other than that I like it.

Attractive, but practically 1/3 of the page taken up by the Sparkpoints wheel seems a bit much. I'd rather have a smaller wheel & a way to get to My Favorites still available. Don't think I'll be switching. emoticon

I like the new start page, but wish I could see my fitness minutes on that page also. I have a personal goal of 1,000 fitness minutes per month and like that I can keep track of them right from the start page. Other than that, it is great!
