I'm a Mommy!

Sunday, December 26, 2010

Our little boy arrived on Wednesday, December 15th at 8:34 PM! He was 7 lbs. 0.6 oz. and 19.5 inches long. The labor and delivery was quite an experience and these past 11 days have been a wonderful, exhausting blur! He is so precious and it's amazing how something can steal your heart so quickly. I still can't believe this precious human being is my son--my hubby and I are so blessed!

I am definitely still healing. I had no idea the amount of changes a woman goes through after delivery. Not only the recovery from the birth itself, but the changes of not being pregnant anymore are insane. I had one stitch from a tear that's still there, my boobs became extremely engorged, I'm constipated, having night sweats, heart burn, swelling from the name it, I've got it! Not to mention the sleep deprivation. :) Despite all of this, I wouldn't change it for the world, of course. I'm just ready to feel better, though!

I have been majorly comfort eating this past week and a half and I'm vowing to end this NOW. I've already felt like I've gained more weight post partum than I gained during the pregnancy. I've yet to weigh myself, but I do know I only gained 15 lbs. during pregnancy, so it'll be interesting to see where I am currently. My boobs are still huge, my legs/feet are still swollen, and my belly is still showing so I think I'm going to wait to weigh myself until four weeks post partum so I don't freak out.

I obviously can't exercise for six weeks, so I just need to get back to eating healthy and then once I'm cleared, I'll be ready to take on the world!

In the mean time, I'm going to enjoy these days with my baby boy! He is so amazing and his arrival was the best moment of my life. I was sobbing more than he was! I love you, Barrett!
