I wanted to wish everyone that celebrates a Very Happy Christmas Eve. I will be busy today baking and cooking food for the family and trying to avoid most of what I'm making, LOL.
My daughter had a great time making lots of Christmas ornaments at the local library yesterday including magnets, a super cute snow man ormanent that they stuffed and then decorated, cinnamon-scented dough ornaments, etc. The best part was it was free and all supplies were no charge as well. I love our little library! I even met another home schooling mom while I was there which was pretty cool.
We had a lot of fun (at least I did) going out in the crowds yesterday although we didn't really go because we HAD to get gifts, we went to get out the house and also for me to use the $10 off $20 coupon that Kohl's had just sent me. That was too cool to pass up and I was wanting some new earrings anyway. Since they were on sale and I had the coupon, my daughter and I both got some and had a lot of fun picking them out.
It was really busy in the jewelry section of Kohl's though and it took us a while to look at all of them since there were lots of people rushing to find that perfect gift. I loved it, I suppose because I wasn't panicking with them and for the first time I got to go out in the crowds really close to Christmas.
I plan to go shopping after Christmas and splurging on a few jewelry pieces (hopefully they will be even cheaper than) to reward myself for getting to 135 pounds. I'm 5-6 pounds from goal and skipped a few of my goal rewards because there was nothing I really wanted at the time.
It's so much fun having a daughter who is into jewelry and "girly" things. My son and my husband can split up and look at "manly" things while she and I hit the "girly" items. We had fun testing different perfumes in the store, but didn't really find anything we loved that much so no perfume for us. It's nice too because I don't have a relationship with my mother or sister to do those type of things with and although my daughter doesn't like to shop, she does occasionally like to look at the girly stuff with me and we talk about the styles of clothing we like, as well as other things.
I feel very lucky to have my kids and husband although we get on each other's nerves a lot since we're around each other so much, but I know we love each other and that's not something I plan to take for granted.
We have plenty of great food for Christmas Eve dinner and for Christmas day and we're not in debt for Christmas because I try to save money throughout the year so that we can afford occasional splurges. We have avoided eating out all week although my husband has been on vacation, because I'd rather we spend it on other things that are "fun" and create memories, not something that will last for 1 hour and then you're done and left paying $60 or more for it.
They are predicting snow flurries for Christmas day and for Sunday, so if we get that as well as having my immediate family here healthy as can be, full of good food, able to afford a few Christmas presents, and love in the home, then I'll have the best Christmas ever.
Merry Christmas everyone!
