Forgot 30 pounds loss meant new clothes...

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

I know, I know... How I did I not put one and one together to equal two. I have been truly thrilled that sparkpeople has been so successful in aiding me to lose nearly 33 pounds since August. But I forgot that those size 14 clothes would not fit my new lighter body. Luckily, I had a few size 12s, but I was totally unprepared for the massive amount of clothing I would need to purchase to fit my new body.
Since I am still looking to lose about 10 more pounds, I don't want to buy too many size 10 items (what if I go down to size 8?) just yet but I am committing to getting rid of all size 14s - TODAY. (I'm literally headed to my local Salvation Army this afternoon.)
In the past I kept them and I always needed them again at some point. I will not give myself permission to not stay committed to my healthy lifestyle.
Of course, I am also focused on paying off all of my credit cards by next summer so that leaves little money for shopping sprees. I am going to have to learn how to work the basics and buy a piece or two here and there to start rebuilding my wardrobe.
I am not complaining, but it's hilarious that I didn't even think about the financial implications of losing weight. Good thing I am saving all that money I spent on restaurants and takeout!

I love SPARK and have learned to love our local thrift store. I have a great new wardrobe for under $100 and am looking forward to having to get a new one soon. Your blog is great! Keep up the good work.

You guys will be happy to know that I found four blazers at Salvation Army for $21.36 and lots of pants (including 2 prs. yoga pants) and skirts at TJ Maxx on clearance for $107.05! Score.
Thanks so much for the encouragement. It feels good to not be worried about what the heck to wear to work after the holidays! And then I'll be able to focus on losing and maintaining these last 10 pounds. :)
Love you, sparkers!

Yay for you!! Depending on what your work wardrobe is like, during your transition, it might be a good idea to find a high-end resale shop. They often have some nice work clothes for a fraction of what you'd pay new. A couple pairs of black slacks and a few new tops and you're set! :)
