What is the secret to success?

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Last night I watched the Biggest Loser. It was very inspiring to see how great everyone looked and even more importantly how the weight loss had affected them mentally. They were so happy and positive and ready to take on the challenges of life.

I find myself wondering ... what's their secret? Then I stop and realize it's no secret. It's about taking things one day at a time and taking time for me to focus on how badly do I want to be healthy, have a normal BMI, shop for clothes outside the Women's department, not mind having my picture taken, etc.

I'm definitely inspired by the biggest losers' amazing weight loss and admire their perseverance and hard work. They made themselves a priority.

So the secret to success ... believing in yourself and making yourself a priority.

I still struggle thinking that I'm taking time away from my family or work to exercise or be on the computer at Spark People. But it's what I need and will be my secret to success. One day at a time.... one moment at a time.....

If you can't get on the computer to track your foods all of the time, get a note book and write down everything you eat. When you do have time to enter the foods on the nutritional tracker, you can go back for days, entering foods and seeing how well you're doing. Just writing things down in a note book keeps you accountable to the only person that matters. You. emoticon emoticon
P.S. I'm jealous about your warm weather.

I found that tracking makes me accountable and I can see what's going on. It's fun to see the forward progress and you can re-evaluate when you see the progress going the wrong way! The energy you get from the results is worth the effort of the tracking! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I could have written those words. That's exactly where I am... I feel a bit guilty taking time for me, but I still know that I have to and should. We can do this and we are worth it!

As far as Loser.... Yeah for Patrick! LOL I too was amazed at the losses so many achieved. They looked great and were so happy. I want that "excitement" in my eyes again....

If you don't take care of yourself, you can't take care of anyone else. And happiness is contagious! Taking care of you = loving you = happiness! And you deserve that!
I have watched BL all season, it's the first season I've seen all of and I really took a lot away from it!

Making yourself a Priority is hard at first, but YOU ARE WORTH IT!!
And in the end it is your Family who will benefit because you will be healthier and happier and more able to be active in their lives instead of them having to take care of you.
