Hmm what to write about. Steamed Puddings?

Monday, December 13, 2010

I don't know how much people want to hear about steamed puddings, but they are kind of cool and old fashioned. And what are you supposed to do when you have been gifted with a bag of the pointy persimmons besides making persimmon pudding? I ask you.

So I made two more today. I have two potlucks coming up at work--one is on Thursday. It is for Toastmasters, to which I don't belong, but I think I am invited because I sit next to the guy who runs it. The other one is next week on Tuesday, and is a breakfast potluck, but I think I can pass persimmon pudding off as a breakfast food :D

Here is a link to the recipe.

the pudding for next week went into the freezer. I hope it will be ok. I think traditionally it would have been preserved by being doused with alcohol, but these are work functions. The sauce part of the recipe makes way too much for one pudding.

My car had a major service on it last weekend, and now it is acting up. I'm going to call to have it towed to the shop tomorrow. Probably some stupid thing like a hose fell off happened. I have my work computer here at home though so I can work from home tomorrow morning until the festivities begin. There is a subway sandwich shop within walking distance of the car place, which is lucky for me.

I finished my crochetted jacket, sorry no pictures. Well I need to find a couple big buttons for it, but other than that it is finished. I found another skein of yarn of the right color, and ripped out some stuff I had done in a complimentry color, and just finished it out right. I still liked the gold and black trim on it with the complimentary yarns.

I haven't made any new burgers from my burger book, but I have remade 3 of them that I think I will continue to make, the tofu one, the baked falafel and the easy bean burgers. Lukas Volger has the cover art now for his next cookbook of main veggie courses, and one can pre-order it at Amazon, but I think I'll wait until I can buy the real thing.

My weight is coming down nicely. I'm sticking to my calorie range mostly. Still not exercising much.

Good to hear that your weight is coming down nicely! Great job! Good for you!!!
I have never made anything with persimmons and also have never made steamed pudding.
You have me curious now. I will read your recipe. I really don't know much about persimmons so I will need to read about them more too. I can't say that I have seen them in stores here in Minnesota. Maybe I just don't know what I am looking for.
I did make another bean burger recipe a few weeks ago. It was pretty good, but really didn't taste too great reheated the next day. Thanks for getting me to atleast try making bean burgers. I do like them!
