Blog Day 7 - My Parents

Tuesday, December 07, 2010

A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on me?

My parents. They met when they were 5 years old and were high school sweethearts, never dated anyone but each other and were very happily married. A true love story.

I lost my Mom to brain cancer on 1/29/00. She was 53 years old. I was 29.

I lost my Dad to kidney cancer on 4/1/04. He was 56 years old. I was 33 (I turned 34 the next day).

I miss them every single day and time hasn't healed anything for me so far. It still seems impossible that they are both gone and all the love and fun we had will never be again. I am lucky though, I have no regrets, they knew how much I loved them and how much I was going to miss them. And I talk to them every day in my own way now.

My heart goes out to you. I lost my Dad first and then my Mom --they were way too young, and not a day goes by in which I don't think of them and miss them. emoticon

You were blessed to have had them both happily in your life for so long. My daughter's boyfriend lost his mother when he was 11yr.old. I can't imagine how horrible that would have been for him.

I'm sure they are very proud of you and happy that you have so many memories with them.

Now, that's a couple that "fits" !!! Two very beautiful people, inside and out! My dad passed in '96 and there's not a day goes by that I don't think of him and miss him...My Mom is still with us and lives with me...Sometimes she can be a real handful, but, I think they call that "payback", and I wouldn't have it any other way.... emoticon You and your Mom have the same smile!
