I went through my wardrobe today, and found the last remnants of my size eighteen to twenty-four 'fat' clothes. I held one pair of the pants up against my hips.
My daughter said, "Wow, Mom. I can't believe you used to fit into those!"
I smiled and said, "Me neither," and tossed them onto the pile for Goodwill.
I also can't believe I didn't throw them away before now. I am determined to discard any clothes I shrink out of from now on. Right now, I only own size fourteens and down. Once the fourteens become too big, out the door they will go.
When I weighed in at 240 plus pounds, I "lived" in sweat pants. It was the ultimate denial because those things will stretch to fit around just about anything. Never again.
I've been reading a lot about goal weight maintenance and one of the recurring comments from folks who've kept their weight off, is "I let my clothes guide me. If they start fitting too snugly, it's time to kick back into gear and exercise more/eat less."
Works for me!
