3 Weeks Post Op

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

I can't believe that it's been 3 weeks already! The surgery went well. Had a hard time controlling the pain but I survived! Let me tell you, it wasn't an easy thing to go through. Am I glad I did it? Well...let me just say that I'm waiting for the day that I can say YES!

I'm getting better and stronger as the days go by but I'm dealing with an injured back (from the car accident) which makes things harder all around. I'm not allowed to bend, twist, or lift anything heavier than 5 lbs. Now throw in the bad back and you can only imagine how I'm doing. I've been working with PT and OT for the past 2 weeks which helps.

Spent 2 weeks on clear liquids and 1 week on pureed foods. I have 1 more week on pureed foods and then I can move onto soft foods. Taking things 1 day at a time.

When I went in for my 10 day post op appointment I found out that I had already lost 8lbs so that was a good thing. Healing is going slow which is due to me being diabetic but they are please at how things are looking. I go back again on Dec 17th for my next check up.

Until next time.....take care and thanks for reading!

Sounds like you're doing well. Take good care of yourself Lisa, and don't try to do too much too soon.

So happy you are on the mend!

    Hi Lisa
The fact that you wrote a blog, already means you're doing better.
I'm glad the operation went well. That's very good news.
Patience is the best tool, especially that you want to exercise as soon as possible. Patience!
Oatmeal is a great filling food, and you can also puree in the blender the foods that the doctors recomend for you.
The other thing that will help you greatly along this journey, is your wonderful understanding of what healthy lifestyle means.

Take care and take it one day, hour, minute at a time as needed.

I am glad to learn that your surgery went well as can be expected. Recovery time from such invasive measures is slow. Be patient with yourself and allow your body the time it takes to heal. You have additional challenges to overcome, and there will be many ahead. However, you are growing stronger in many ways. As you reflect, you will be able to see just how far you have come, and you keep moving forward. emoticon I am certain not at the current moment, but the time will come.
    Thanks for the update.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. emoticon
