Slowing It Down

Hi Everyone! As we get near the holidays, I hope everyone has something they are looking forward to. Maybe some time with family or friends. Maybe a special trip. Maybe just some time to relax and be cozy.

For those that have been following my blog, I promise I haven’t been absent. I’ve been faithfully spinning that spark wheel every day. However, you may have also noticed I haven’t kept on all my usual rounds. And to this, I feel bad. So I have decided to do some balancing. One of the first things is to balance fitness with friends. I have been so pushed to burn 1,000 calories a day that I have little time to do anything else. This is great, but all things in moderation. Not to mention, my body needs some rest. So, I want to cut this down to 30 minutes of planned activity a day, which is about 300 calories burned. Instead of trying to log all my cleaning, lawn chores, etc as exercise (which I think is some of the BEST exercise), I will just look at the 30 minutes of planned cardio. All the other stuff will be “bonus” and it will keep me from going crazy trying to track every little thing. This is hard, because I love to watch my fitness minutes add up.

I was also too absorbed in cardio, that I rarely had any time to do strength training. As winter sets in and the nights are dark and windy, I’ll do a morning cardio and evening strength at home. I’ll have to come up with my own strength training chart and record it on Spark manually. The suggested workout is based on a 7 day week, which makes it hard to come up with a regular alternating plan.

As for the groups, there are some that I just never visit. I’m interested, but it stresses me out that they are just sitting there idle. I’ll be better off picking 5 core groups (or so) and huddle with those on a more regular basis.

As for tracking, this is getting hard. My iPhone got jacked, which was wonderful to track as I ate. I guess this means I need to plan and stick to the plan. I turn my computer off at night, so I can concentrate more on family. So no tracking at night unless it is pen and paper. I realize how important tracking is, so I really need to make this a #1 focus.

Other than that, I’m doing good. It is nice to see everyone on here every day. You are an inspiration to me. So many great stories and lives here. Thank you all for the support and inspiration.

    Without balance everything can fail so do what works for you.

    I too am about to shuffle some things around and even considering joining a gym with some family members - I'm getting bored and need that SPARK!
