Running Again, Yippee

Sunday, November 21, 2010

I had to stop running for a couple of mths due to injury and improper footwear, but that is all sorted now.
I have missed running so much, not just the physical benefits but what it does for me mentally. I feel alot stronger, clearer and focused when running.
Due to it being a few mths since I last run I was easing myself back in with my own version of the couch to 5k programme, but found after the second week that I was able to run 30 mins straight which feels great and is testament to continuous working out.
All my running is done in the gym, but I am planning to run a 5k before the end of march, so i'll have to take it outside.
I am so happy that i managed to exceed my goal of running by end of Dec.
Just had to get that out, because i find i dont give myself enough credit for the things i do.

Hi Morgan Here. I know that you'd visited emotional eatting -- and joined our small group of ladies trying to quit night time eating. I'm not sure what happened. It looks like the last post was sometime in November. Anyway, when I clicked on your profile and saw this blog, it reminded me of myself. I too am a runner. I had a long-term injury that required surgery. And I too am BACK!! You are so right. It feels so good to be running again. It does wonders for the mind. I suppose that's why I've slacked off on posting to the group, because when I run during the day, I'm calmer at night and tend not to over eat. Anyway, add me as a friend, and I'll do the same. Maybe we can cheer each other on to doing some long distance races. Hugs.

Way to go on meeting that goal on the work you did while not running to keep your muscles strong! I had to quit for a couple of months too because of some serious sciatica issues not related to running. I've just started back about 5 weeks ago or so. But I had just started running about a month or two before that happened so I'm just a beginner building back up. But I have been so happy to be able to get back to it too and know how you feel!
