I cannot believe I did it.

Friday, November 19, 2010

We are having left overs for dinner tonight and I was browsing in the fridge to see what was there when I spotted about 1/2 cup of pasta sauce in a small bowl. I took it out, popped it in the microwave and heated it up. A minute or so later I caught myself sitting on the coffee table watching TV and eating it. All of a sudden I thought, "What the heck am I doing?" Eating without thinking and not really liking it emoticon It just happened and I cannot believe that I did it. When it finally dawned on me what I was doing, I stopped and put the rest of it down the garbage disposal. I only ate a little of it but I still cannot believe I did it. emoticon

Mindless eating... mindless pounds...that is what makes this journey so challenging!

    Been there - done that!
It's all a learning process.

Mindless eating is always a troublesome issue for me as well. I eat when I'm bored or tired. Chewing gum usually keeps my jaws happy and my calories in check.

I think it is very easy to have mindless eating. Sometimes you just eat out of boredom. I have been on a strict diet and it has helped me appreciate what I am allowed to eat and focus on what I am eating. I usually would overeat just to be eating.

Forgive me but I think you have it all wrong, you are focusing on the fact that you ate some pasta while not thinking about what you were doing but what I read is that you realized it and stopped yourself so YEAH for you!!! emoticon

Don't worry! This is a learning process and it's great that you realized what you were doing WHILE you were doing it.

I wouldn't think of this as something negative... at all!!! In my opinion, it turned out to be something positive because you DIDN'T finish the whole bowl. Instead, you realized that was an old habit you are trying to break and stopped right there. I think that's pretty good!!!
