donated blood

Sunday, November 14, 2010

For the first time in 10 years I donated blood yesterday! Last time I did I ended up with a migraine and tunnel vision but then I hadn't eaten for a while. So yesterday I ate a good breakfast and then I went (DH went first then I did) and donated whole blood and it only took 6 minutes!

The nice thing is they also check your iron and cholesterol for you and hey free snacks and juice right? emoticon

I didn't donate for a long time because I was trying to get preggers then IVF a bunch of times then I became preg (NATURALLY TYVM see what specialists know?) with SN (special needs) son. Then he was in the NICU for a long time then preg with Bebe (19 month old) and well now... I am done with having kids so its time I start giving back.

SN son received 12 of his 13 blood transfusions while he was in the NICU. Perfect strangers repeatedly saved his life. Now its our turn to give back.

I hope I spark one of you to donate blood if you haven't recently! I feel great for having done it and if you are squeamish about it (and trust me I AM) just don't look (that's what I do I just turn my head and NOT LOOK!!! emoticon)

Anyway going to make today a good day. I got one of my class's home work done last night but I have a TON of reading for that class to do and I still have homework in another class yet to do and chapter to read.

I hope you all have a sparktacular Sunday!

Excellent. Time I went and donated again - we get a nice cuppa tea and a biscuit afterwards, which is worth it!

What a great gift you are giving! I was a very faith blood donor for many years but since I was stationed in Europe, I am no longer allowed to donate due to the Mad Cow problem that they have not developed a test for yet. I hope someday that I'll be able to start donating again. I wish more people who were actually eligible would give. Thank you for your care for this need.
