Today I was in line with my groceries. A little boy was in front of me. He was so cute, about 7. And he was friendly. He began examining the contents of my cart. The produce seemed to interest him, especially the colored sweet peppers, apples, celery and cauliflower. He was pointing at each bag of produce and saying, "Not that." or "Not that either." So I asked him why he didn't like vegetables. He said, "Oh I like them! But my Mommie never gives them to me." I looked at her, she was crabby looking and she was watching us. Her purchases consisted of new clothes, dish soap, and a bag of cough drops. I just wondered why that little fellow didn't get an apple or an orange. That has haunted me today, but it was nice to see a child who really would like to eat good food. The Grandma in me would have loved to hug him and give him an apple. I feel more appreciative than ever of my healthy food.
