I'm OK

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Thanks everyone for your messages and prayers during this tough time. You are all such fabulous friends. Yesterday was the funeral and I kinda lost it, but today is better and hopefully every day will be a little easier. I did pull it together to deliver the family's eulogy at the meal afterwards.

I've decided not to run my half marathon tomorrow. I haven't prepared for it adequately and my heart really isn't into the racing and competition thing right now. I feel emotionally and physically spent. I don't want to drive up to the seacoast alone and put myself through that, even though the weather is supposed to be fantastic. I think there was a reason I was compelled to run the earlier HM in October... I think this is it. I am going to run tomorrow. But it will be a shorter, leisurely run.

Best of luck to 4EVERADONEGIRL, ITSHOWYOULIVE, DREAMRUNR, SLEEPYDEAN, CAROLYN1213, and everyone else doing a HM or marathon this week that I've forgotten. Rock it out, girls.

So sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you.

There is always another half to run, but such a short time we are given to grieve.

Take care of yourself.

Hugs to you during this tough time. I totally agree with EMLG11. It does take time but soon happier memories will come. Remember all of the nice times you had together and that will help you get through the toughest days.

Sorry to hear about your Grandpa. I think it was meant to be that you run that earlier race! It just fell into place to perfectly. Sorry you didn't run with us today, but we still felt you in spirit. You've been there with us all along. Take care of yourself, things will settle into a normal-ish pattern again before too long. Prayers to all in your family.

Oh, hon. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

This is not a time to worry about being there for the races. there will always be another one. It time to heal and love and be with those that care about you and for you.

Take care of yourself.

Peace to you in this your time of sorrow. I am so sorry for your loss - I know your grandfather was very special to you. Its good that you didn't put yourself through the marathon - someday, when the time is right, you'll do it and maybe even in his honor. Be good to yourself - take care and be well.

Be easy on yourself. Give yourself time. It does get easier over time. I always say you never stop missing them, but the good memories start replacing the sadness at some point. You will find little things that remind you of him in places you wouldn't expect. It is ok to be sad and everyone goes at a different pace.

Oh sweetie, I've been thinking about you this week. I knew your HM was Sat and I was wondering how you were going to make it all happen.

I'm glad you're listening to your heart and skipping the HM tomorrow. There will be others. For now, focus on your heart, finding ways to lift your spirits, and remember all the great times with your papou. I can imagine how difficult the past week has been. I hope you find peace this weekend.

love you.

emoticon I'm so sorry! I've been dealing with something simiiar this week. My grandfather has lung cancer and took a turn for the worse and I had to hop a plane back to Kansas to be with him. Luckily, he's recovering but eventually...

Anyway, I'm glad you did the earlier HM so you won't feel guilty about missing this one. You've got a lot to deal with already. Take care of yourself.

So sorry for what you're going through. It sounds like you are not in your best shape to run the hm and a long relaxing run by yourself may help you get your thoughts and feelings sorted out a little. Sometimes the time alone is what is needed along with the joy of running. There will be other races. You're probably right about why you were compelled to do the other one. Take care of yourself during this time of grieving. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I think you are doing well to listen to yourself and act accordingly. It's difficult enough to lose a loved one without berating yourself for missing something like an HM. There will be others!

Find some time for you now. I would have skipped the HM too; there's always next year, right?

Enjoy the autumn days, they are fleeting (or fleeing?? Winter storm warning in Minneapolis today. That's not too far from here!!)

Have a restful weekend, friend.

I think your decision not to run the HM is the right one. If you are distracted, you will not enjoy it. Take time to do what YOU want and need to do for yourself.
