Great article on dark chocolate with cited resources...

Saturday, November 13, 2010

I enjoyed reading this article because there were actual cited sources and because it says how good for me dark chocolate really is :)

I'm noticing a theme among my last 2 blogs ;)

Health Benefits of Chocolate Unique to Dark Chocolate

One of the biggest challenges people have with any diet is the denial of their sweet tooth. This denial can continue until a person’s will is broken and they have to cheat. They have to indulge the craving. This often leads to overindulgence and a lack of motivation to continue the diet. The culprit in all of this is often sweets. Who can resist the call of a sugary and sweet delight after living in a prison of bland diet food?

Researchers, however, may have found a light at the end of the tunnel and a momentary escape from the dreariness of health food. Recent studies have found several health benefits of chocolate. Maybe there truly is such a thing as healthy chocolate.

I understand your connection to chocolate. I am the same way. I came up with this recipe http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/reci
pe-detail.asp?recipe=1482385 that you might want to try. If the link doesn't work, you can go to sparkrecipes and search for Bam-ma's cookbook "recipes I have made/ Chocolate Hazelnut Macaroons"

I make a batch of these and freeze them in single serving snack bags. Then they are not in plain sight so I don't eat them all at once, but when I have a craving, I can grab one pkg and only get about 57calories and limited sugar, but get my chocolate fix. They aren't your grandma's macaroons!

The key for me would be limiting myself to just about ANY sweet, chocolate or otherwise...!

I continue to struggle with that and am always most safe when it just ain't around...lol.

LOL, Gwen I read the same article while pregnant with Sarah
Oatmeal Choc. Chip is my favorite sweet ever, I can't help myself around them.
I made some with whole wheat flour, walnuts, flax, etc. As healthy as I could basically and then froze them on a cookie sheet in little balls, so I would be forced to pull it out of the freezer and bake it before devouring.
Making the last 4 for the kids today :)
I'll check your recipe out too :)

ANd here's a funny side note for you... When i was pregnant with David... one of my fellow coworkers once told showed me and article that said consuming chocolate while pregnant would prodice a happy baby... And i was teased because of my chocoholic ways that i had enough chocolate stored up in my body i could produce lotos of happy babies..
