Which number is right???

So I been using a pedometer for about a year now. I keep it in my pocket and track my steps, miles walked, and calories. I try to hit 7500 steps a day. Weekends I hit 12,000 to 13,000 due to the fact I don't ever stop moving on the week end. Between workout class at the gym and keeping up a 3 acre yard and just working around the house.
I recently bought at heart rate monitor watch that tracks heart rate , calories burned and so on. Last night I got on the treadmill and walk/run 38 minutes. According to the heart rate monitor I burned 358 calories which I didn't push the start button until after 7 minutes in so it only tracked it for 31 minutes. My treadmill said I went 1.52 miles and burned 160 calories. My pedometer said I walked a total of 7696 steps for the day, 3881 which were aerobic that as on the treadmill, but I only walked a total of 1.47 miles for the whole day. So when I tracked that in the fitness tracker here on SP I selected the 20 minute mile for 38 minutes and it said I only burned 169 calories.

So which is it. Should I go by the heart rate monitor because it kept track of my heart rate through out yjr workout and knew how hard I was working out? Did I not select the correct workout on the fitness tracker? Regardless of what the readings are I just happy I got back on that treadmill and stayed on. emoticon

    I have wondered that myself but I try to stick with the heart rate monitor no matter what you use you will be able to tell the difference as time goes on. emoticon

    I use to use a heart rate monitor until it started putting up unrealistic numbers. I realized this one day when I was jogging (15min/mile) on 2nd mile and it said my heart rate was at 50%... lol that was my resting heart rate! There was no way I was working that hard and it be that low. So I gave up on it. I have noticed that my treadmill and spark are close in the cal burn so I just go with it. however I have also noticed that my friends monitor shows lower cal burn for some of the other workouts I do then spark does... so I guess I just hope that somewhere it evens out! Whatever the cal burn keep up the great work!

    Great job! I think the heart rate monitor is the best source for calories burned. I use mine religiously and it's ALWAYS different than what the elliptical shows! Sounds like you're doing all you can. Stick with it and I'm sure you'll see great results!!
