The beat goes on...
I did 4 walks in 4 days, but skipped yesterday as my still recovering broken toe began hurting. Initially I felt bad about yesterday, but I'm putting things in perspective: Today my toe feels better, and I'll be putting in another 10-20 minutes, even with the rain.
It's important for me to not get too perfectionistic about the walking, as this tends to eventually become self-defeating. That's why I gave myself the goal of 5 days a week of walking 10+ minutes. It sure beats zero days a week!
Also, I'm not sure if I mentioned this elsewhere, but my new walking shoes make quite a difference...
Just last week I took off the soft cast that my (new) doctor had recommended a month ago. It's a rocker heel, but not as bulky as Sketchers. They're protecting the toe I broke over 6 months ago (and the surrounding damaged tissue), and wearing new athletic shoes almost always puts a bigger bounce in my step!
So there's two things that help this non-walker to walk: The weight and health benefits, not being perfectionistic, and new shoes. Wait, that's three things.
A total of three things help motivate this former-person-who-hated-to-wal
k: The weight and health benefits, joining this team, new shoes, and listening to the great James Brown and other favorites on my Ipod while walking.
A total of four things...
